Tom Triumphs!
Event number 14 in the Beech House Dental Practice Time Trial League was a 4-mile climb from Lofthouse Fire Station up to Scarhouse Dam car park. This was the final event giving riders one more chance to improve their placing in the league.
The weather was warm with quite a strong breeze from the west. The wind can make all the difference on this course and this time it was a headwind all the way, meaning times were considerably slower than last year, when a tail wind assisted riders.
19 riders signed on from Harrogate Nova and Moonglu, all but 2 on road bikes.
Tom Rowlay (Nova) was 1st male in 12:30. Tim Bennett (Moonglu) was 2nd in 12:42 with Tom Cox (Wheel Suckers) 3rd in 13:05 on a TT bike, just 1 second ahead of Pete Ackroyd (Nova). Mark Turnock secured the Scar Dam trophy as fastest rider verses last year.
Amy Bradley (Nova) was 1st lady in 14:39, breaking the lady vet’s road bike record, ahead of Tilly Bland (Moonglu) who was 2nd in 16:09, with Sharon Smith (Moonglu) 3rd in 16:51.
After the event, everyone headed to How Stean Gorge Café for refreshments.
We extend our sincere thanks to Margaret and Vaughan Carswell for timekeeping at the majority of events, Duncan Mullier for uploading the results to the website, Sarah Swinscoe for photography, all the other volunteers and finally to league sponsor Roger Bromiley who generously provides prizes for the winners.
